Love this look #3

I'm not normally into Posh style, but this outfit caught my eye. I like the mix of basic colours and absolutely love the scarf.

Zac's on Target!

Designer to the stars, Zac Posen has partnered with Target Australia to release his designs in a price range that I won't have to sell my car for!

His collection can be viewed here in all its glory.

I'm not really feeling the 'must buy' vibe, but I'll check it out in person when it hits the stores April 3.

It's scarf time

There's a definite chill in the air today. We even had a frost on the front lawn this morning!

I guess it's time to pack away the flip flops and shorts, and dust off my boots and scarves.

So saying...I bought myself a Regatta cable knit scarf today in my favourite colour, burnt red (like the colour of the red scarf in the picture). You can find it on page 7 of the current Myer catalogue.

Now this is my kind of style! I'm loving the colour of the top and the belt adds that extra little bit of zing to the outfit.

Getting the basics

A basic for me is an item that can be dressed up or down, forms the base of many of my outfits and when I'm desperate for something to wear I can turn to for some basic style.

So what are my basics?

• boot cut jeans
• t-shirts in solid colours (short & long sleeve) in white, black & season colours
• button down in white
• cardigan in black
• v neck sweater in black, grey
• pants suit in black
• pencil skirt in black
• pants in charcoal
• tailored jacket (whatever I fall in love with)
• hoodie (whatever colour takes my fancy)
• coat in black
• flip flops/sandals in gold
• heels, boots & flats in black
• a clothing item or accessory in my favourite colour, burnt red

These are the basics I keep my eye out for every time I shop. There always seems to be something on this list that needs replacing!

Favourite summer flip flops

I bought these gold Ipanema flip flops at Myer back in January and have worn them heaps. They are definitely my favourites for this summer! I love how comfy they are and they go with pretty much anything.

Finding my style

I have spent a lot of time lately surfing the net and flicking through magazines to work out what my style is. I have always dressed conservatively and have never really been into fashion trends.

I like simple no fuss clothing which after all my reading would probably be classified as classic, casual chic with a touch of preppy (not really into the whole pink and green preppy look and am not yet convinced that argyle sweaters are my thing).

I have spent a lot of time checking out Chic and My Fabulous Preppy Life. I really like the 'looks' they put together and their sense of style suits my tastes, particularly that of My Fabulous Preppy Life.

I have also been checking out Fashion Under $100 and Lookbook for some inspiration. I know what I like when I see it but am hopeless at putting an outfit together myself that works. I think I'm going to be doing a lot of style stealing from here on in so I can get that pulled together look others seem to achieve so easily.

Hope the Easter Bunny brings everybody lots of big easter eggs tomorrow!

Lucky number 21!

It took three shopping trips and I tried on 20 pairs of jeans before I found a pair that fit! I bought these bootcut Levis last month and love them. I also bought a RM Williams cardigan in black which looks great with my news jeans and a T.

What's my style?

Lately my clothing style has been slack! When I say lately I really mean the last ten years. Somewhere between a husband, 2 children and full time work I stopped taking care of how I look.

So I've decided to do something about it. It's time to find my style, whatever that is! My aim is to step out the door each day looking and feeling great.

This blog is to help me keep focussed and keep track of my progress.

I have already made some changes to update my 'look' (I began in January), I will catch up with what I have been doing and purchases I have already made over the next couple of weeks.
